My Rants Vol. I: The Run Cap Bandit

voir la vidéoI haven't ranted about anything for a little while. The other day I was doing a PM at this place and it just makes me sick to see this crap. The Run Cap Bandit, as we call these types of lazy techs, when replacing a condenser fan motor like to leave the old run caps in place and simply mount the new run cap next to the new motors by either mummifying them in electrical tape, or hanging with zip ties, or even worse, leaving them hanging by the wires. Two reasons I can think of for them to do this hackery. 1. They are very lazy and don't want to spend the additional 5 minutes of time to do it right. 2. They used a universal fan motor. The universal fan motor has four wires and the OEM had only three. The tech doesn't understand how to wire it back as a three wire by simply cutting off the extra wire and thinks that both brown wires have to be connected to the run cap. The sad thing is, this is done regularly by techs with more than a year or two of experience. Tsk. Tsk. [ voir sur Youtube.com ]
